About the role

The position is part of the Systems Support Group (SSG), which functions as the technology backbone of SVP and is responsible for critical technology modernization, cybersecurity, and operational support in response to rapid utility growth and evolving regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support both enterprise and utility-specific network infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Cisco technologies.
  • Ensure the availability, performance, and security of the organization’s overall network environment, including the SVP’s utility communication and control systems.
  • Administer and monitor network services, manage a variety of advanced network and security products, including Cisco firewalls and intrusion prevention systems.
  • Maintain compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requirements as well as applicable state and local mandates.
  • Support and maintain complex multi-protocol infrastructure components, including enterprise-grade Cisco firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless controllers.
  • Manage secure VPN access, routing protocols, and future zero-trust network access initiatives.

Requirements

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, and at least 5 years of relevant work experience.

Must have a valid California driver’s license and be able to pass a background check.

Must have a current CompTIA Security+ certification or equivalent.

Must have a current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or equivalent.

Qualifications

Experience with Cisco networking technologies, including but not limited to Cisco IOS, ASA, and NX-OS.

Experience with network security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and virtual private networks (VPNs).

Experience with routing protocols, including OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.

Experience with network management tools and platforms, such as SolarWinds, ManageEngine, or similar.

Experience with cloud-based solutions and services, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

Skills
