Temporary Laborer

About the role

The City of Chicopee's Department of Public Works, Parks Division is hiring a Temporary Laborer.

Essential Duties

• Performs miscellaneous skilled and unskilled manual duties in the maintenance and care of recreation areas, athletic fields, park and playground equipment.
• Lines playing fields.
• Plants trees, shrubs, and flowers.
• Replaces grass.
• Repair fences, water fountains, drainage systems, swings, slides, and other playground equipment.
• Paints and does other maintenance work.
• Performs other related unskilled labor duties such as cleaning debris and leaf removal.
• May also operate weedwhacker.
• Tree Cutting And Removal.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• One to three (1-3) months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Some experience in maintenance work involving turf maintenance and other skilled/unskilled job duties.
• General knowledge of parks and recreation department operations.
