The CWJC seeks an attorney to work for one year in a vibrant, talented team providing legal assistance in various humanitarian-based immigration law matters, including removal defense, VAWA petitions, U and T visas, SIJ petitions, and asylum cases. The attorney will engage in community outreach through community consultation sessions and know-your-rights trainings, and assist in preparing periodic grant reports.

Qualifications

  • New law school graduates and more experienced lawyers are eligible to apply.
  • Fluency or advanced proficiency in a language in addition to English strongly preferred, particularly Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole.
  • Prior experience in immigration law and demonstrated experience working with diverse communities strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a collaborative setting are important.

Compensation

The starting salary for this position is $73,000, which is based on a union scale and adjusted upward depending on experience to a maximum of $109,000. CWJC offers a very generous benefits package that includes:
