California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) Department of Music seeks highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments. About the Role
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may be required to begin teaching on short notice. The academic terms are as follows:
- Fall term: late August to mid-December
- Spring term: mid-January to mid-May
- Summer sessions: opportunities may be available
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned upper-division courses in the department’s curriculum
- Hold weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Music (required)
- Preference given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching
- Experience teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds
- A DMA, Ph.D., or extensive professional experience (required for teaching upper-division core courses at the 300- or 400-level)
Satisfactory completion of a background check, including a criminal records check, is required for employment. The CSU is a state entity requiring all work to be performed within California.
Pay
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges are:
- Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677
- Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224
- Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523
- Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211
