About the role

Test and calibrate voting equipment, site-check polling locations, and troubleshoot equipment on Election Day. Deliver, assemble, and retrieve voting equipment and supplies at precincts located throughout the county.

Start Date: October 19th. End Date: Dictated by workload following Election Day.

Schedule

Typical hours are 9:00 AM–3:00 PM Monday–Friday, with extended hours for delivery day and Election Day.

Responsibilities

  • Program election equipment using programming media and a checklist.
  • Sort, clean, inventory, and load polling place supplies using a checklist.
  • Load and deliver equipment prior to Election Day to county voting locations following a designated delivery route.
  • Provide both technical and supply support to assigned polling locations on Election Day.
  • Inspect each assigned polling location for compliance utilizing a checklist on Election Day.
  • Transport election results following the closing of polls to the Commissioner of Elections on Election Night.
  • Retrieve equipment from polling locations post-election.
  • Clean, sort, and store equipment post-election.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Previous election experience preferred, but not necessary.

Story County participates in E-Verify and will confirm work authorization through Form I-9. All candidates who are offered a position must complete Section 1 of Form I-9 and provide required proof of identity and right to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Physical & Environmental Characteristics

The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light (24 pounds or less) and heavy (25 pounds or more) objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.

The work is typically performed in an office, stockroom, warehouses, and at polling places. The employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, and grease. Work may require the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves.
