Temporary Dietary Manager

About the role

The Dietary Manager will provide management for the Dietary Department. This includes directing and assisting in the preparation and serving of regular meals and therapeutic diets, managing staff, purchasing food and supplies, maintaining sanitary conditions, and overseeing all dietary functions.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise dietary staff
• Order food and supplies, maintain dietary budget, and process new diet orders
• Ensure timely and quality service of meals, inspect meals for accuracy and presentation, and plan for special meals and functions
• Visit newly admitted residents to discuss food preferences, visit residents during meal times, and participate in Department Head Meetings
• Develop and present training programs, check inventory, and inspect storage areas for cleanliness
• Submit reports to administration and ensure compliance with regulations
• Communicate and collaborate with internal and external vendors and regulatory agencies, and notify Administrator of incidents

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Willingness to be on-call for all aspects of the Dietary Department, including evenings and weekends
• Knowledge of NC Sanitation Rules and Regulations, NC DHSR Adult Care Home Rules and Regulations, and HIPAA regulations
• Ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 75 pounds
• No substantiated findings on the NC Personnel Registry or Health Care Program
• Clear SBI and DMV record
• Two-step tuberculin skin test
• At least 2 years supervisory experience
• Basic knowledge of diets and willingness to learn NC Sanitation Rules and Regulations, NC DHSR Adult Care Home Rules and Regulations pertaining to Food Service and therapeutic diets
• SERV Safe Certification within 6 months of hire

Skills

• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Good computer skills
• Ability to work with chemicals/cleaning agents
• Slip-resistant shoes required while working in dietary
