Temporary Day Service Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision to Habilitation Specialists and Direct Support Professionals (Rehabilitation Technicians) in Community Prevocational and Day Habilitation Services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
• Coordinate and ensure service delivery for a caseload of up to 30 individuals with I/DD, overseeing implementation of Person‑Centered Practices.
• Complete required documentation (Life Plans, Monthly Case Notes, Person‑Centered Plans, Prevocational Assessments, DDP1’s, Incident Reports, etc.) to funding source and oversight agency standards within specified timeframes.
• Ensure individuals on the caseload meet monthly attendance goals and prepare a monthly attendance report for the Program Manager.
• Engage each individual in Person‑Centered Planning; use the plan and feedback to develop Staff Action Plans, Employment Plans, goals, and supports.
• Create group and individual monthly schedules that reflect each person’s goals, interests, needs, and skills; assume schedule development when a Senior Technician is not assigned.
• Solicit regular feedback from individuals, Rehabilitation Technicians, and Job Developers to adjust schedules and plans.
• Ensure Person‑Centered Planning and practices are carried out by Habilitation Specialists and Direct Support Professionals for all participants.
• Submit and balance petty‑cash reports, track Metro Card distribution and reconciliation, submit monthly transportation reimbursements, and conduct monthly fire drills at off‑site locations (when a Senior Technician is not assigned).
• Visit hub sites and volunteer/internship sites to supervise activities, evaluate progress, and monitor service quality and interactions.
• Ensure Rehabilitation Technicians provide daily services as written in each individual’s Habilitation Plan and accurately record time, attendance, and services.
• Modify communication style (tone, verbal and non‑verbal techniques) to meet each individual’s communication needs, in accordance with OPWDD and agency requirements.
• Exercise good judgment and discretion in communications and decisions that impact individuals, groups, or crisis situations.
• Demonstrate professional demeanor, punctuality, reliability, adaptability, strong communication skills, and pleasantness.
• Develop and support individuals’ skills for Prevocational Services to meet workplace productivity expectations.
• Maintain positive, productive relationships with coworkers, supervisors, colleagues, individuals, parents/caretakers, support teams, and internship/volunteer sites.
• Recruit appropriate individuals into the program through outreach to schools, transition coordinators, MSCs, etc., to maintain program enrollment.
• Liaise and troubleshoot with the transportation company.
• Participate in annual Life Plan meetings.
• Provide oversight, guidance, and discipline for Rehabilitation Technicians; handle hiring and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Work directly with the QA department to keep charts audit‑ready.
• Upload and work with CHOICES & IRMA systems.
• Serve as ADP Time & Attendance Supervisor.
• Submit requisitions in D35 (new line combining all ADMIN assignments).
• Oversee overall site operations and safety.
• Perform other duties as needed or required.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of related work experience.

Experience: One year of work experience in mental health, vocational rehabilitation, or case management preferred.

Scope of Responsibility & Supervision

• Supervise Rehabilitation Specialists and Direct Support Professionals in implementing schedules and services.
• Provide support and training on positive interaction techniques with individuals.
• Meet weekly with Rehabilitation Technicians and peers to discuss goals, achievements, and coordinate schedules.
• Address performance issues (punctuality, attendance, communication) with Rehabilitation Technicians and relay concerns to the Program Manager.
• Create Performance Improvement Plans when necessary.
• Oversee staff development of Rehabilitation Specialists and Direct Support Professionals.
• Maintain fiscal stability in the program and units of service.

Special Working Conditions

• Frequent travel and field work within the boroughs.
• Attendance at individuals’ meetings that may occur in the evenings and/or at off‑site locations.
• On‑site presence required.
