Temporary Data Entry Specialist
About the role
The Data Entry Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely processing of participant information within PlanSmart. This position is responsible for reviewing, interpreting, and processing participant documentation across multiple operational queues while maintaining strict adherence to quality standards, compliance requirements, and service level expectations.
Responsibilities
- Process participant documentation through multiple operational work queues, including Scan Queue, Data Entry Element Queue, Fax Queue, Returned Mail Queue, Manual Audits, Gatekeeping Queue, and CAM Queue.
- Review, interpret, and validate participant documentation, including identification records, tax documents, forms, and verification materials.
- Accurately extract and enter required data elements into PlanSmart and related systems.
- Ensure all transactions meet established quality, compliance, and processing standards.
- Identify, research, and escalate discrepancies, incomplete documentation, or processing exceptions.
- Maintain data accuracy and integrity while processing high volumes of participant records.
- Support audit readiness through thorough and accurate documentation practices.
- Adhere to established service level agreements and processing turnaround requirements.
- Manage workload effectively while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to data privacy, confidentiality, and information security.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to resolve processing issues and improve operational efficiency.
- Meet and/or exceed productivity, accuracy, and quality performance expectations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1+ years of data entry, document processing, administrative support, or related experience.
- Experience working in production-based or high-volume processing environments preferred.
- Experience handling confidential or sensitive information preferred.
- Strong computer proficiency and experience navigating multiple systems simultaneously.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent productivity and quality standards.

Pay Transparency Statement: Alight considers a variety of factors in determining whether to extend an offer of employment and in setting the appropriate compensation level, including, but not limited to, a candidate’s experience, education, certification/credentials, market data, internal equity, and geography.
Schedule
Fast-paced, production-based work environment with high volumes of document review and data entry activities. Performance is measured through productivity, quality, accuracy, timeliness, and compliance metrics. Standard operational queues are expected to be processed within established service level agreements, including a three-business-day turnaround for standard queues. CAM Queue determinations must be completed within 30 calendar days.
Work Conditions
- Requires prolonged periods of computer usage, document review, and data entry.
- Regular handling of highly sensitive participant information, including Social Security Numbers, tax documents, names, addresses, and other personally identifiable information.
- Strict adherence to data privacy, confidentiality, and security requirements is required at all times.
