About the role

Temporary clerical employees are periodically hired for a variety of clerical and administrative needs across campus.

Responsibilities

  • Duties will vary by assignment, but may include significant clerical tasks, reception, customer service, word processing, spreadsheets, and other administrative support.

Requirements

  • Two years of general clerical experience, including one year of typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
  • An Associate’s degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
  • Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology AND one year of general clerical experience.
  • College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Additional qualifications may include:
    • Significant clerical skills and experience;
    • Excellent reception and customer service skills;
    • Strong computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets;
    • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Qualifications will vary by assignment, but may include:
    • Bookkeeping or budget monitoring experience;
    • 10-key by touch;
    • Cashiering experience.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position will be between $19.36 and $21.91 per hour.

Schedule

  • Work days/hours: Usually Monday-Friday, hours will vary based on position.
  • Most temporary assignments last 30 to 90 days.
  • Temporary employees are limited to 1,040 hours within a given twelve months.
  • Pay period for temporary employees extends from the 16th of one month to the 15th of the following month, with payment on the last business day of the month.

Benefits

  • Temporary employees are eligible for use of the PSU library and gym facilities.
  • Temporary employees are not eligible for vacation, health benefits, or reduced tuition.
