Temporary clerical employees are periodically hired for a variety of clerical and administrative needs across campus. Assignments typically last 30 to 90 days while recruitment takes place to fill a regular position, or for a special project. Temporary employees are limited to 1,040 hours within a given twelve months.

Responsibilities

Duties will vary by assignment but may include:

  • General clerical and administrative support
  • Reception and customer service tasks, such as greeting guests and answering multi-line phones
  • Typing, word processing, or generating documents
  • Using computer applications including word processing and spreadsheets

Requirements

  • Two years of general clerical experience, including one year of typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
  • An Associate’s degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
  • Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology AND one year of general clerical experience.
  • College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Additional qualifications may include:

  • Significant clerical skills and experience
  • Excellent reception and customer service skills
  • Strong computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications will vary by assignment but may include:

  • Bookkeeping or budget monitoring experience
  • 10-key by touch
  • Cashiering experience

Pay

The hourly rate for this position will be between $19.36 and $21.91 per hour. The pay period for temporary employees extends from the 16th of one month to the 15th of the following month, with payment on the last business day of the month.

Schedule

Usually Monday-Friday; hours will vary based on position.

Benefits

  • Temporary employees are not eligible for benefits such as vacation, health benefits, or reduced tuition
  • Eligible for use of the PSU library and gym facilities
