Temp-to-Perm HR Consultant

About the role

Our client, a growing nonprofit organization in the South Bronx, NY, is seeking a Temp‑to‑Perm HR Consultant to serve as the organization’s primary HR resource during an exciting period of growth. The role supports benefits administration, recruiting, employee relations, performance management, compliance, policy development, HRIS selection and implementation, and workforce processes for both full‑time and part‑time employees.

Responsibilities

• Administer employee benefits, including open enrollment and ongoing benefit programs.
• Manage full‑cycle recruiting, background checks, and onboarding compliance.
• Support employee‑relations investigations, performance‑management processes, and policy administration.
• Ensure HR compliance and develop or update HR policies.
• Lead HRIS selection, implementation, or optimization initiatives.
• Oversee workforce processes for a mixed population of full‑time and part‑time staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
• 5+ years of progressive human resources experience (required).
• Experience in a small nonprofit or education environment (required).
• Experience with benefits administration, including open enrollment and employee benefit programs (required).
• Experience managing full‑cycle recruiting, background checks, and onboarding compliance (required).
• Experience supporting employee‑relations investigations, performance‑management processes, and policy administration (required).
• Preferred: experience leading HRIS selection, implementation, or optimization initiatives.

Pay

Hourly rate: $40–$48 per hour.
