Temp- Patient Experience Rep (Weekend Overnights/Eve)
The Department of Pediatric Radiology provides a full range of imaging services for newborns, infants, children, teenagers, young adults, and pregnant women at Boston Children's Hospital and our satellite clinics in Lexington, North Dartmouth, Peabody, Waltham, and Weymouth. We provide individualized care for each patient to obtain the highest quality images and ensure the most accurate diagnoses using the most sophisticated imaging equipment available.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate positive and effective customer service that supports departmental and hospital operations.
- Greet, screen, and direct patients, families, and visitors.
- Register new patients upon arrival.
- Monitor clinic activity to ensure the best possible patient experience.
- Record and process patient demographics, insurance/payment, and referral information for patient encounters.
- Collect all necessary clinical documentation and information.
- Transcribe code and patient treatment information into a billing system.
- Obtain required authorizations, referrals, and verifications of insurance to compile patient and staff schedules.
- Schedule patient encounters and procedures to coordinate with and across providers, departments, and institutions.
- Monitor daily schedule and coordinate flow to optimize resource utilization and patient experience.
- Maintain personal calendars for physician/supervisor(s).
- Schedule meetings, programs, and events.
- Transcribe, type, and proofread correspondence, forms, reports, and other materials involving complex scientific, technical, and/or specialized terminology.
- Record and forward messages, triage calls for urgent information or services, and initiate calls for emergency services.
- Participate in the purchasing of inventory.
- Provide routine clerical support as needed.
- Utilize all office technology, including phone systems, email, Microsoft Office programs, and clinical, scheduling, and billing applications.
- Enroll patients and caregivers in the patient portal.
Requirements
- A high school level of education; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Prior customer service or administrative experience preferred.
- The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
- The ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.
Schedule
Fri-Sat, 11p-7a, Sun 3p-11p (24hrs), 100% onsite.
Pay
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
