About the role

This position is for the UNM‑Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM. The Mathematics, Business, Science, and Technology Division anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach face‑to‑face and/or develop lower‑division courses (100‑2000 level) in the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters in the following disciplines:

  • Pre‑Algebra – Math 099
  • Introduction to Algebra – MATH 100
  • Intermediate Algebra – MATH 1215
  • College Algebra – MATH 1220
  • Mathematics for Teachers I – MATH 1110
  • Mathematics for Elementary and Middle School Teachers I – MATH 1118
  • Mathematics for Middle School Teachers – MATH 2115
  • Mathematics for Elementary and Middle School Teachers III – MATH 2118
  • Trigonometry – MATH 1230
  • Pre‑Calculus – MATH 1240
  • Application Calculus I – MATH 1430
  • Calculus I – MATH 1512
  • Calculus II – MATH 1522
  • Calculus III – MATH 2530
  • Statistics – Introduction to Statistics – MATH 1350

UNM Gallup is a two‑year branch campus of the University of New Mexico that provides post‑secondary education responsive to the unique needs and multicultural backgrounds of its community, offering community education, career and technical education, certificate and associate degree programs, and transfer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Meet face‑to‑face with the class during assigned times (which may include evenings or weekends)
  • Deliver course content
  • Develop assignments
  • Grade assignments
  • Report grades
  • Assess student learning as outlined by the division chair

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in the discipline or subfield for which you are applying
  • Or a master’s degree or higher in a different discipline plus successful completion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the discipline or subfield for which you are applying

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD, ABD, or EdD in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field
  • At least one year of successful teaching experience at the community college level
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to support the university’s mission to serve local and global communities

Pay

Adjunct faculty are compensated on the basis of their credentials and credit hour course loads.
