Duties & Responsibilities

  • Facilitation of activities, events, and programs for all attendees.
  • Provides information concerning the facility and programs to the public.
  • Ensures accurate attendance records are kept current.
  • Enforces facility and departmental rules and regulations.
  • Establishes a positive rapport with all participants.
  • Attends all staff meetings and training sessions, including any state-mandated courses.

Important Functions

  • Operates Point of Sale system (POS) to collect fees for onsite concessions.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains cleanliness of equipment and facilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Must have the ability to lift and move files and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.
  • Frequently performs activities requiring a full range of body movements including sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, crawling, twisting, and balancing.
  • Frequently stands and walks for prolonged periods of time to observe for safety hazards and perform daily functions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of operations, services and activities of an assigned program area.
  • Knowledge of recreation and youth/teen programming.
  • Possess basic math skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule which may include mornings, nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to oversee, coordinate, and implement programs in assigned area.
  • Ability to implement goals and objectives for providing services.
  • Ability to provide directions to program participants.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend programs that meet community needs.
  • Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations in assigned program areas.
  • Ability to ensure program compliance with mandated City policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and written.
  • Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment including computers.
  • Ability to work successfully with and provide good customer service to supervisors, other City employees, the public and other agencies and organizations.
  • Ability to perform all the job duties in a safe manner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age by the date of hire.
  • Previous experience working with teens/youth is preferred.

Special Conditions Of Employment

  • First Aid and CPR certification must be obtained within six months of employment.
  • All required licenses and certifications must be maintained throughout the term of employment.
  • Failure to obtain and maintain the licenses and certifications may result in demotion or termination.
