About the Role
The Temporary Digital Initiatives Center Assistant supports the FIU Law Library's digital collections, web presence, and public service operations. This position assists with the digitization and preservation of library materials, including scanning, image editing, metadata creation, and uploading content to the institutional repository. The role also contributes to web content enhancement, search engine optimization, graphic design projects, and library events. Additionally, the assistant provides customer service support at public service desks and assists with special programs and activities as needed.
Responsibilities
- Digitize and preserve library materials through scanning, image editing, and metadata creation.
- Upload content to the institutional repository.
- Enhance web content and optimize for search engines.
- Support graphic design projects using Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
- Provide customer service at public service desks.
- Assist with library events and special programs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (required).
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom).
- Familiarity with digital imaging, scanning, photography, and OCR software.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, Word, and Excel.
- Experience with WordPress, content management systems, or digital repository platforms.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage detailed digital content and metadata accurately.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., 20 hours per week.
Pay
$18 per hour.
Benefits
As a temporary employee, you will not be eligible for paid leave, retirement, or tuition reimbursement. Temporary employees working an average of 30 hours or more per week may qualify for health care benefits under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Supplemental plans (e.g., dental, vision) are available but require full payment by the employee.
