Responsibilities
- Source documents by finding publicly accessible Telugu PDFs with multimodal elements; record the source of each document.
- Annotate structure by identifying and bounding every meaningful region of the page; assign each a component type and reading-order index.
- Record relationships by linking each region to its parent component, such as a figure or table.
- Transcribe text faithfully in Telugu script, including handwritten content; flag any illegible regions.
- Capture page metadata including language, document type, source, page dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting.
- Review a colleague's work thoroughly; experienced annotators take on end-to-end reviews.
Qualifications
- Must-Have: Native fluency in Telugu, including full command of the script.
- Experience with document annotation, transcription, or related fields.
- Attention to detail with character-level accuracy.
- Systematic approach to applying taxonomy across pages.
- Comfort with unfamiliar layouts like multi-column newspapers and handwritten forms.
Preferred
- Experience with regional-language AI data annotation or bilingual evaluation.
- Skills in transcription, localization, and OCR correction.
- Knowledge of Unicode normalization and Telugu input methods.
