About the role
The Employee is responsible for understanding and complying with regulatory requirements for financial transactions, specifically the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Customer Identification Program (CIP), as it relates to their job functions.
Responsibilities
- Exhibits superior customer service as an Austin Bank team member.
- Demonstrates high-quality relationship-building techniques to ensure customers receive the best possible solutions to their banking and financial needs.
- Helps promote a loyal relationship between the customer and Austin Bank.
- Participates in developing a teamwork atmosphere with co-workers by attending meetings, participating in discussions, treating co-workers with respect and courtesy, and contributing to departmental goals.
- Stays informed about company communications by reading publications, announcements, and company emails.
- Takes advantage of appropriate communication channels regarding bank-related business matters.
- Develops personal skills and capabilities through ongoing training, as provided by the company or elsewhere, subject to company approval.
- Upholds and safeguards the organization’s values, particularly relating to ethics, integrity, and confidentiality, both internally and externally.
- Greets customers and provides superior customer service.
- Processes night depository, ATM, and Bank-by-mail deposits.
- Receives checks and cash for deposit, verifies amounts, examines checks for proper endorsements, and issues receipts for deposit amounts.
- Places holds on checks accepted for deposits, if necessary, in accordance with regulations.
- Cashes checks after verifying customer signatures and balances.
- Obtains positive identification of payees.
- Obtains information and completes Currency Transaction Reports for submission to the BSA Officer.
- Prepares Suspicious Activity Reports when applicable.
- Maintains teller cash drawer within required limits.
- Explains, promotes, and/or sells bank products or services such as cashier's checks, etc.
- Maintains appropriate logs of cash sales of cashier's checks per requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Accepts loan payments.
- Processes cash advances.
- Plays stop payments on checks, drafts, and ACH transactions as requested by customers.
- Balances teller cash drawer and cash vault daily.
- Accepts information for outgoing wire transfers and processes them according to Wire Transfer procedures.
- Maintains an organized, clutter-free, and adequately supplied work area.
- Cross-trains in other areas.
- Maintains confidentiality at all times.
- Reports to work regularly and promptly.
- Contributes as a team player.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, and in-service meetings, etc.
Qualifications
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos.
Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the bank.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Calculate simple mathematical equations as applicable.
Ability to operate a personal computer and use Bank systems software.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
