About the role

Responsible work in organizing, directing, supervising, and controlling dining site operations, to include activities and maintenance programming of dining facilities, grounds, and buildings within a designated area of responsibility in Pasco County. Social service and supervisory work in the provision of elderly services and nutrition to persons over 60 or disabled.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely performs field site inspections and makes decisions to ensure that dining site operations and programming meet department standards, Federal, State and local requirements; as well as ensuring policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Develops specifications and coordinates with site staff to ensure activities, nutrition education, and guest speakers are scheduled in the dining sites.
  • Maintains files, completes reports, and keeps daily records pertaining to operational activities.
  • Interviews, selects, trains, evaluates, and supervises delivery staff and site staff; as well as recruits and supervises volunteers.
  • Makes recommendations for merit and disciplinary action.
  • Develops and monitors home delivery routes as needed.
  • Works with community organizations and the general public to organize, support, and publicize activities and special events.
  • Oversees the work of subordinates to ensure compliance with grants and that targeting goals are met.
  • Conducts client interviews, assesses, prioritizes, and enrolls the eligible participant in either Congregate or Home-Delivered Meal Program.
  • Responsible for the reporting of suspected elder abuse to the State.
  • Counsels and assists participants in accessing age-related services.
  • Maintains client files and is responsible for the data entry of the State’s CIRTS and Helpworks data base system.
  • Handles reservations and addresses public concerns via oral and written communications with the public, County staff, and administration.
  • Conducts surveys to gauge participant satisfaction and measures perception of services.
  • Provides input for budget preparation and implementation, coordinates revenue generation and monitoring of program income from participant donations.
  • Affords assistance in planning and implementing grant; as well as administers contracts.

    Requirements

    • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the social sciences or related field.
    • One year of experience in social services, public relations, or other public service function, preferably dealing with the elderly.
    • A comparable amount of directly related experience may be substituted for the minimum educational requirements.
    • Valid Florida driver’s license.
    • Certification in CPR and First-Aid required or must be obtained within six months from date of hire.

    Skills and Abilities

    • Knowledge of social services available to older persons.
    • Knowledge of routine and complex operational issues concerning a dining site, including both maintenance and recreation programming.
    • Ability to relate to the public with particular emphasis upon the elderly.
    • Ability to read and comprehend manuals, reports, and memoranda in the performance of duties.
    • Ability to make decisions and exercise logical judgment and discretion when dealing with problematic situations.
    • Ability to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with staff, peers, supervisors, community organizations, and the general public.
    • Ability to assist, schedule, and supervise the work of subordinates and outside entities when performing required tasks.
    • Knowledge of multiple computer programs.
    • Ability to maintain records and prepare clear and concise reports, both verbally and in writing.
