Teller

About the Role

As a Teller at KeyBank, you will be a problem solver, trusted advisor, and partner to the people and businesses in our communities. You will provide excellent client service in-person by welcoming both new and existing clients, assisting them with account transactions and servicing needs, and identifying and resolving client servicing issues. Through conversations with clients, you will uncover financial needs and transition clients to a banker for deeper financial wellness discussions.

Responsibilities

• Embody a strong client experience culture, being present with every client and teammate.
• Perform teller functions efficiently, effectively, and accurately in an in-person branch setting.
• Proactively identify and resolve client servicing issues, escalating as needed.
• Listen for financial wellness opportunities during client conversations and transition clients to a Banker.
• Assist clients in achieving their financial goals through financial wellness tools.
• Attend and participate in in-person morning huddles and end-of-day debriefs.
• Follow compliance, audit, and security procedures, balancing cash drawer within guidelines.
• Review and maintain knowledge of product guides, fees, and policies.
• Work on Saturdays as directed by management.
• Perform other duties as assigned; responsibilities may change or new ones may be assigned.
• Comply with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including professional conduct, ethical business practices, and acting in clients' best interests.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent business experience (required).
• Experience in a client service role (required).
• Experienced in cash handling (required).
• General understanding of PC with Windows-based applications and calculator (required).
• Notary License (preferred).
• Ability to occasionally operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license.

Skills

• Knowledgeable about clients' accounts and business with the bank; uses sound judgment with clients and transactions.
• Strong sales and service skills; presents products and services while proactively educating clients on access channels (e.g., ATM, Online, and Telephone Banking).
• Strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Ability to manage and maintain client accounts accurately and securely.
• Educates clients on financial wellness, including budgeting, saving, and planning for the future.
• Accurately and securely processes cash transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and balancing cash drawers.
• Ensures accuracy in transactions and maintains organized records.
• Identifies and resolves client servicing issues efficiently.
• Understands and follows banking regulations and security procedures.
• Identifies financial needs and promotes relevant banking products and services.
• Detects and prevents fraudulent activities.
• Collaborates effectively with teammates to ensure smooth operations.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged standing (5-8 hours per day).
• Frequent use of hands to manipulate/grasp objects.
• Ability to communicate face-to-face and on the phone with clients.
• Occasional bending and lifting from floor height.
• Frequent forward reach.
• Frequent lifting of 1–10 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.

Pay

This position is eligible to earn a base hourly rate in the range of $18.00 - $23.08 per hour. Placement within the pay range may differ based on skills, experience, and geographic location. Compensation also includes incentive compensation such as production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
