About the role
The Telemetry Technician 1 is responsible for monitoring the Telemetry of patients with continuous cardiac monitoring as ordered by the physician. They also communicate all findings to the assigned nurse and report any changes in heart rhythm.
Responsibilities
- Observes the cardiac rhythms on the monitors on a continuous basis during the shift.
- Recognizes interference and can correct the problem as observed by the nurse.
- Recognizes and immediately reports dysrhythmias to the appropriate staff.
- Records monitor strips on all patients every 4 hours.
- Documents PR interval, rate, and rhythm on the recorded strip every 4 hours.
- Affirms that all telemetry monitor alarms are always on.
- Retrieves rhythms stored in memory upon request.
- Oversees supply inventory and reports malfunctioning equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of an EKG certification program.
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
