Telemetry Technician - Per Diem

About the role

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital dedicated to providing world-class inpatient post-ICU services to chronic, critically ill patients. Telemetry Technicians play a central role in providing compassionate, excellent care.

Responsibilities

• Continuous monitoring and timely response to alarms on EKG monitors.
• Verification of correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
• Maintaining EKG monitor alarms and responding to all alarms as needed.
• Observing all assigned monitors and responding to alarms promptly and appropriately.
• Completing EKG interpretations including: rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, wave form alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
• Ensuring strip interpretations are validated by Registered Nurse (RN).

Requirements

• Must complete and pass EKG class for Monitor Techs and required competencies on an education platform within 30 days of start date in position.
• Pass other tests/competencies as required by Select Medical.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work per diem, night shifts (7 PM-7 AM).

• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to respond quickly to medical emergencies.
• Basic knowledge of EKG interpretation.
