About the role

We are seeking a Telehealth Psychiatrist licensed in Texas (TX) or California (CA) to provide psychiatric care in an acute setting via telemedicine.

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts available (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Weekday or weekend options

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments to diagnose mental health disorders in an acute care setting.
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, ensuring treatment plans are effective and adjusted as needed.
  • Create individualized treatment plans that include medication management, psychotherapy, and other interventions.
  • Perform chart audits, peer reviews, meetings, and provider management.
  • Maintain up-to-date medical records in compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and standards of care.
  • Audit files to ensure all services provided are documented; review patient status to verify completion of treatment and therapeutic programs.
  • Work closely with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and staff to provide integrated and coordinated care.
  • Provide immediate psychiatric care in crisis situations, such as suicide attempts or acute psychiatric episodes, and work to prevent incidents through proactive mental health management.
  • Comply with applicable regulations, laws, rules, procedures, policies, standards, and/or contracts.

Requirements

  • Active Texas (TX) or California (CA) medical license.
  • 2 years of inpatient experience (trauma experience required).
  • Board Certified or Eligible (within 1 year of residency completion) in Psychiatry.
  • Valid and unrestricted DEA registration.
  • Proficiency in using telemedicine technologies to treat patients remotely.
  • Open to collaboration with Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) (preferred).
