Duties
- Serves as the Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Manager and Trip Lead for emergency operations.
- Manages all Ku-band SATCOM and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite systems, overseeing TFSO contracts for these services.
- Oversees HF, VHF, UHF, and cellular communications systems in support of NS/EP and contingency plans.
- Maintains responsibility for satellite RF communications and terrestrial radio networks.
- Performs bandwidth studies, gap analyses, and long-range telecommunications forecasts.
- Advises senior managers on emerging technologies and program enhancements.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Tour of duty: Set schedule.
- Security Requirements: Non-Critical Sensitive with Secret Access.
- Appointment subject to suitability and fitness determination.
- Not authorized for recruitment incentives.
- Bargaining unit status: No.
- Selectees required to have REAL ID or other acceptable identification.
- Must be screened from military recall.
- May be required to deploy via temporary reassignment or stay in place for contingency operations.
- Position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization.
Qualifications
- One year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent under other pay systems.
- Experience designing, integrating, and managing wide-area communications networks using SATCOM platforms.
- Experience managing and configuring HF, VHF, UHF, RF-over-fiber, cellular, and terrestrial radio networks.
- Experience developing and implementing telecommunications plans, SLAs, contingency plans, and operational procedures.
