Satcom Systems Technician
This role focuses on testing, troubleshooting, and supporting satellite communication systems with a strong emphasis on RF (radio frequency) technology. The technician applies advanced RF testing skills, uses specialized test equipment, and supports the development and maintenance of satellite and telecommunications systems.
Responsibilities
- Test, troubleshoot, and maintain satellite communication systems with a focus on RF technology.
- Use specialized RF test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, and frequency counters.
- Support the development and maintenance of satellite and telecommunications systems.
- Operate test software, document results, and support networked systems.
- Follow schematics and technical diagrams accurately.
- Perform bench-level testing, system setup, and hands-on interaction with satellite antennas and related hardware.
- Maintain precise documentation and adhere to company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of field-related or military experience in satellite communications.
- Advanced RF testing skills with hands-on experience in RF communication systems.
- Working knowledge of RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, frequency counters).
- Experience with satellite communication systems, including SATCOM and satellite telecommunications.
- Advanced computer skills for operating test software and documenting results.
- LAN/WAN networking experience to support integrated satellite and communication systems.
- Knowledge of AC/DC electrical fundamentals.
- Ability to read and follow schematics and technical diagrams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.
- Mechanical aptitude for hands-on work with RF and satellite communication hardware.
- Dependability, including consistent punctuality and reliable communication.
- Residence in or ability to be based in Plano, Texas.
- Eligibility to work under ITAR regulations.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in electronics, telecommunications, or a related field (preferred).
- Background in radio, RF technician work, or electronics with an emphasis on RF communication systems.
- Experience developing or executing test plans for satellite communication systems and related equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a technical team.
Work Environment
The role is based in Plano, Texas and involves working in a technical lab or field environment focused on satellite and RF communication systems. The technician regularly uses RF test equipment, computers, and networking tools for LAN/WAN configurations. Work typically includes bench-level testing, system setup, and hands-on interaction with satellite antennas and related hardware. Standard technical or business-casual attire is expected, suitable for a professional engineering or electronics lab setting.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $25.00/hour.
