Telecommunications Project Controller

About the role

The Project Controller will support a large electric utility client in the Pacific Northwestern US. This is an in-office position based out of either Portland, Bend or Medford, OR, depending on the location of the selected candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, monitoring and maintaining engineering and construction project budgets for various sized projects for public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities
  • Working with Project Management teams using earned value management techniques to ensure that forecasts and costs are aligned, including the development of recovery plans, to stay within approved limits
  • Closely partnering with Project Managers, Engineering Leads, Managers, and other client stakeholders to track and execute client deliverables
  • Supporting project teams with material tracking
  • Producing schedule weekly/monthly project control reports for client and internal management review, including resource loading analysis and schedules, critical path items and risk analysis
  • Interfacing directly with the client on a daily basis to report progress, schedule and risks across a portfolio of electric utility projects
  • Aiding project managers with the creation and maintenance of comprehensive project dashboard reports and KPI tracking
  • Reviewing, interpreting, and providing inputs to project schedules and identifying risks

Requirements

  • Mid-Level: 4-7 years of relevant project controls experience
  • Senior-Level: 7-10 years of relevant project controls experience
  • (Pay ranges will be commensurate with candidate experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance or a closely related discipline is required
  • Demonstrated experience managing and reporting project financial performance, budgets and cost controls
  • Capability to plan, organize, direct, and track technical efforts on project tasks
  • Effective in a team environment with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work effectively with customer representatives in an effective manner
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task effectively

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with electric power infrastructure projects and knowledge of business issues associated with power delivery services
  • Experience working with US electric utilities
  • Demonstrated success with a team approach to the consulting business
