About the role
DRG is looking for a Telecom Aerial Lineman to perform skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and operation of underground and overhead telecommunications infrastructure. This position involves using specialized equipment in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Responsibilities
- Install, operate, maintain, and repair overhead telecommunications plant, including strand, fiber, and coax.
- Read and interpret engineering plans.
- Locate and troubleshoot telecommunication cables and wires.
- Perform maintenance on telecommunication equipment.
- Operate bucket trucks, hand tools, power tools, ladders, signal level meters, voltmeters, and test equipment.
- Operate communications devices and company vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Clean, maintain, stock, and secure assigned vehicle and equipment.
- Adhere to industry-specific, local, state, and federal regulations.
- Work on aerial spans and complete paperwork, timesheets, test results, vehicle inspections, and logs.
- Assist team personnel in problem-solving and job site setup/clean-up.
- Visually assess digging areas to ensure proper staking/locating before digging.
- Comply with safety standards and report accidents/incidents immediately.
- Operate construction equipment safely in urban and rural areas.
- Perform site restoration work and safely transport equipment.
- Learn and share new skills and techniques continually.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- General knowledge of telecommunication construction practices.
- Proficiency in new build, coax & fiber installation, and pole transfers.
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, climb, and bend; occasionally walk, kneel, and crawl.
- Close, peripheral, and distant visual abilities, including depth perception.
- Ability to work in loud environments and various outdoor conditions.
- Knowledge of materials and tools used in line construction and maintenance.
- Understanding of separation and clearance regulations.
- Ability to proficiently splice telecommunication wires.
- Dependable, trustworthy, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate construction equipment and machinery.
- Carry 75-80 lbs., including extension ladders.
- Ability to work at heights of 20+ feet and in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Pass pre-employment and random drug screens.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of aerial lineman, telecommunication, and pole climbing experience preferred.
- Valid CDL A driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (preferred).
- High school graduate or GED certificate (preferred).
- OSHA certification (preferred).
- Ability to complete online OSHA and safety-related certifications.

Pay
Compensation based on experience.
Schedule
Full-time position with a minimum of 40-45 hours per week. Travel up to 100% within the client’s service territory.
