Telecom Designer

Responsibilities

• Complete project assignments with minimal supervision and provide direction to support staff.
• Support local projects and assist team members in other projects across the company.
• Prepare drawing packages including site, floor plans, enlarged communication room layouts, equipment rack/cabinet layouts, elevations, backbone schematic, and infrastructure design details.
• Prepare cable pathway fill calculations and opinions of probable costs.
• Cook up coordination of the network infrastructure design with other engineering disciplines such as civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, architectural, and door locking hardware.
• Conduct field surveys/reports during programming, construction, and post-construction phases to maintain company best practices.
• Ensure compliance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction.
• Work within a team environment to meet standards and incorporate technology systems into the overall system design.
• Develop and design within a BIM design environment using Revit and Navisworks, knowledge required.
• Collaborate with the internal and external project team to execute the project from concept to completion, including attending meetings, conducting site visits, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and providing responses.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience in this field.
• Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) or Designated Communications Distribution Designer (DCDC) certification.
• 3+ years of relevant experience as an RCDD or DCDC.
• Fluency in Autodesk CAD (computer-aided drafting & design) programs including Revit, NavisWorks, and AutoCAD (a plus).
• A deep understanding of communications system design.
