About the role
The Telecommunication department supports the routine and emergency activities for the health system’s four acute-care hospitals and acts as a support to the rehabilitation hospital during its off hours. The department operates 24/7 and is the first point of contact for external and internal inbound callers. You’ll work in a fast-paced, multi-line environment handling situations from simple to complex, making immediate, independent decisions to preserve life and property.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for inbound callers, both external and internal
- Handle routine and emergency telecommunications for multiple hospitals
- Make immediate, independent decisions in high-pressure situations
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while prioritizing tasks
- Collaborate within a team model based on respect and shared goals
Requirements
- Minimum of two years recent experience in a fast-paced multi-line customer service, call center, or telecommunication environment
- Minimum of one year recent customer service experience
- Knowledge of hospital operations, emergency management, and/or scheduling preferred
- Medical terminology required
- Proficient organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with telecommunication technology and Microsoft Office
- Ability to type 40 words per minute preferred
- High school diploma required
