Telecom Apprentice

Position Summary

The Telecommunications Apprentice will participate in the installation or maintenance and inspection of telecommunication systems and associated processes alongside a licensed Telecom Technician.

Role and Responsibilities

• Regular attendance at assigned locations, which may include offices or other project sites
• Follow blueprints and building plans to meet client needs
• Absorb cable supports, through floor and wall sleeves, and fire stopping materials
• Install relays, cabinets, and network switches
• Terminate data, voice, coaxial, control, and fiber optic cables
• Install cable trays above and below floors
• Test cables to TIA/EIA level II standards using a cable analyzer and fiber test equipment

Qualifications

• Essential Skills & Characteristics:
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Follow plans and instructions from supervisors or more experienced workers
  • Adhere strictly to all safety rules and quality standards
  • Participate in site housekeeping
  • Interact with all co-workers and clients in an attentive, courteous manner
  • Perform additional duties as directed by management
  • Occasionally perform clerical/administrative tasks
• Educational & Experience Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or relevant work experience
  • 0-4 years of field experience, trade school, or apprenticeship
  • OSHA 10 certification
