Position Summary
The Telecommunications Apprentice will participate in the installation or maintenance and inspection of telecommunication systems and associated processes alongside a licensed Telecom Technician.
Role and Responsibilities
- Regular attendance at assigned locations, which may include offices or other project sites
- Follow blueprints and building plans to meet client needs
- Absorb cable supports, through floor and wall sleeves, and fire stopping materials
- Install relays, cabinets, and network switches
- Terminate data, voice, coaxial, control, and fiber optic cables
- Install cable trays above and below floors
- Test cables to TIA/EIA level II standards using a cable analyzer and fiber test equipment
Qualifications
- Essential Skills & Characteristics:
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Follow plans and instructions from supervisors or more experienced workers
- Adhere strictly to all safety rules and quality standards
- Participate in site housekeeping
- Interact with all co-workers and clients in an attentive, courteous manner
- Perform additional duties as directed by management
- Occasionally perform clerical/administrative tasks
- Educational & Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or relevant work experience
- 0-4 years of field experience, trade school, or apprenticeship
- OSHA 10 certification
