About the role

Responsible for the review, analysis, design, modification, and execution of one or more processes that support the IT infrastructure function of the Exchange Network portfolio. Tasks include engineering, implementing, operating, and supporting the network, as well as providing user support. Safeguards physical access to Exchange restricted data, processes, and services.

Responsibilities

• Gather requirements from IT staff and users to assist with network design and operation.
• Ensure users comply with network policies and procedures.
• Proactively monitor network performance.
• Serve as second-level support for non-routine and major network events and incidents by identifying, evaluating, and troubleshooting.
• Respond to telephone calls and email requests for network support.
• Provide management with status reports.
• Research new technology and procedures to support network management.
• Train and coordinate with IT staff on the network management portfolio.
• Maintain networking systems across the Exchange enterprise by applying routing protocols and proper network manipulation.
• Perform proactive network resource management, trouble isolation, repair, systems restoration, and implementation.
• Serve as escalation support for IT Help Desk Associates on networking problems.
• Gather requirements for networking needs.
• Manage IT operations and Cisco network equipment, including Meraki appliances, switches, firewalls, and access points.
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot computer network systems.
• Provide engineering support for network infrastructure issues.
• Configure, implement, and support all network components.
• Manage requests, problems, incidents, and data environments.
• Write and maintain technical documentation for the network environment.
• Participate in design, build, and test activities for new WiFi deployments, network upgrades, and technology/platform evaluations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Four years of experience in Cisco networking systems support, including Cisco routers, Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches, and wireless networking systems.
• Operational knowledge of routing protocols.
• Understanding of cause and effect of networking changes and ability to apply operational changes.
• Experience isolating network problems in a timely manner and restoring systems to operational status.
• Experience upgrading and implementing networking systems.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, TCP/IP, FTP, and firewalls.
• Experience monitoring devices using networking tools: SolarWinds, Meraki dashboard, ISE, Cisco wireless controllers, and DNAC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or Information Technology (preferred) OR equivalent experience.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification (preferred).

• Position is located at HQ in Dallas, Texas; some temporary duty travel (TDY) may be associated with this role.
