About the role

Under the supervision of the Youth & Family Director, the Teen Coordinator will lead the management and implementation of all teen programs at the West Side YMCA branch. Responsibilities include assisting with staff management, program development, outreach, recruitment, and key community partnerships, such as local schools. The impact of teen programs will be measured and monitored for continuous improvement.

Teen programs run during the school year (concurrent with the school day, after school hours, and Saturday evenings) and during the summer (Saturday evenings). The Teen Coordinator will supervise all teen travel, including overnight and multi-day trips.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of teens in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
  • Manage administrative data entry in various systems (Youth Service.NET, AS400), coordinate participant paperwork, conduct program surveys, and meet all requirements outlined by City agencies and YMCA’s Teen Standards.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement program registration, programming, workshops, and special events with support from part-time Teen Advisors.
  • Directly facilitate teen programming when a Teen Advisor position is vacant.
  • Ensure programming is led with a focus on Social Emotional Learning and skill development.
  • Assist in marketing and distribution of program information and compile program statistics.
  • Help develop, implement, and monitor the program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Establish and maintain links with service providers, including other CBOs, schools, and partnerships.
  • Attend designated meetings, training sessions, and special events related to teen programming.
  • Participate in Branch Fundraising or Annual Support Campaigns.
  • Act as the liaison to the YMCA of Greater New York regarding teen issues.
  • Provide support to the Youth & Family Director regarding staff management and scheduling.
  • Manage adolescent behavior with respect, maturity, compassion, and encouragement.
  • Create and support an environment that is diverse, culturally sensitive, and relevant to the needs of teens.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; a college degree in Education or Social Work is desired.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with teens/youth and planning activities.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications preferred.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities, with comfort working with multicultural youth and adults.

$25.00 hourly
