About the role

The Technology & Innovation Teacher works collaboratively with the Technology & Innovation Curriculum Coordinator to implement Technology and Innovation curriculum through design and project-based learning activities in SAA’s Innovation Lab as well as in ECC-8th grade classrooms. This role teaches Middle School J-STEAM electives (e.g., robotics, coding, drones), K-5th grade J-STEAM curriculum, and basic coding concepts to young students. The teacher integrates educational technology into the broader curriculum and supports a robust, cutting-edge J-STEAM program for all students. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Director of Lower & Middle School and collaborating with the Technology & Innovation Curriculum Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Teach skills, knowledge, and concepts of design thinking, digital citizenship, and inquiry-based learning through technology education courses.
  • Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials aligned with the School’s educational philosophy and ISTE Standards, adapting curriculum to meet the needs of each student and subgroups.
  • Instruct students in the proper use, care, and safe handling of all technology-related equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Technology & Innovation Curriculum Coordinator to plan and deliver an ECC-8th grade educational technology program incorporating design thinking practices and ISTE standards, including hands-on learning opportunities.
  • Evaluate the academic and social-emotional progress of students, maintaining records such as attendance reports, checklists, and other documentation.
  • Maintain safe storage and ensure proper use of materials, equipment, and tools in the Innovation Lab.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior and engagement to foster a productive learning environment.
  • Evaluate each student’s growth in knowledge and skills in the course being taught.
  • Participate in staff meetings, committees, and sponsorship of student activities.
  • Supervise students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
  • Communicate proactively with families and the Division Director regarding student progress through JagNet, emails, report card narratives, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate a variety of learning styles and needs.
  • Utilize technology (e.g., JagNet, Google Workspace, Paylocity) to enhance learning, provide feedback, and engage with colleagues.
  • Ensure the preparedness, maintenance, cleanliness, and robustness of the Innovation Lab.
  • Maintain professional competence through professional development programs, curriculum meetings, and other activities.
  • Participate in student and parent activities, including student clubs and after-school programs.
  • Create an effective learning environment through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and activity/learning centers.
  • Serve as a Middle School advisor as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or Head of School in support of the school’s mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree (Teaching Credential a plus).
  • Minimum two years of Educational Technology and/or Makerspace experience.
  • Innovative, cross-curricular approach to education.
  • Ability to collaborate with and inspire other teachers to integrate technology into their curricula.

Pay

Annual salary range: $72,000 - $84,000. The final salary will be determined by factors such as skills, education, experience, job level, part-time status, and months of work per academic year. Pay equity is considered in the final offer.
