In this role, you will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants to help deliver engineering solutions and advice that drive positive outcomes for clients. You will support project execution from planning and documentation through coordination, quality control, budgeting, and client communication, while working across multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals and expectations. This role supports low-voltage technology work across education, institutional, and MEP markets, with a strong emphasis on healthcare, government, and communications, security, and AV systems. At a Glance Location: Chicago, Naperville, or Rock Island, IL; Des Moines, IA; Farmington Hills, MI; or Madison, WI Discipline: Technology Markets: Education; Institutional; MEP Ownership: 100% employee-owned (ESOP) Travel: Up to 50% Work Schedule: Hybrid and/or remote work schedule available Sponsorship: Not available What You'll Do Assist in the design and analysis of IT structured cabling, audio/video, security, and other low-voltage building systems.Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively.Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects.Assist in project planning and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives.Assist with documenting design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress.Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions, collaborating with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions.Work within the project’s monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements.Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in low-voltage technology (ICT) engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work, identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with low-voltage technology ICT systems, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals. What You'll Bring Required Education Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred Experience 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry Required Skills/Abilities Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsStrong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to electrical voltage and current, digital and analog signals, basic IT networking topologies and protocols, as it relates to electrical low-voltage systems design for buildingsKnowledge of industry standard engineering software and toolsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsEagerness to learn and adapt to new challengesBasic knowledge in the use of BIM softwareAbility to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookMust have the ability to travel up to 50%, including local, domestic, and international travel as needed for business purposes, which may include overnight stays and/or air travel About The Team Core technology-engineering team, especially strong in healthcare, government, and institutional communications / security / AV systems.Healthcare technology, including hospitals, clinics, and EHRM-related scopesFederal and VA / USPS / military / airport technology programsTelecom, AV, security, and acousticsRecent work includes US Dept of Veterans Affairs / Syracuse, NY / EHRM Infrastructure Upgrades, Government / VA, and Texas Children’s Hospital / Houston, TX / Supply Chain Warehouse, Healthcare / Technology. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
