Work location: Atlanta, GA 30313, US – Hybrid (client office). Tentative start date: August 17th.

About the role

12-month contract position in the Medical Device domain.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Embedded C/C++ firmware on microcontrollers (bare-metal/RTOS) for hardware control of sensors, motors, valves, ADC/DAC, and PWM.
  • Implement and integrate embedded Linux (Yocto), including system boot flow and device communication.
  • Design and debug hardware interfaces using protocols such as UART, I2C, SPI, RS-485, and SMBus.
  • Apply control-system principles (PID/feedback loops) and real-time embedded design patterns.
  • Architect, implement, and maintain firmware, bootloaders, and over-the-air upgrade mechanisms.
  • Diagnose complex systems spanning MCU firmware and Linux applications, including fault handling and diagnostics.
  • Assist in integrating the main .NET application with firmware and hardware.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of overall work experience.
  • 10+ years of hands-on Embedded C/C++ development on microcontrollers (bare-metal or RTOS).
  • Hands-on experience with embedded Linux (Yocto), system integration, and boot flow.
  • Experience with hardware communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, RS-485, SMBus).
  • Knowledge of control systems (PID/feedback loops) and real-time embedded design.
  • Familiarity with firmware architecture, bootloaders, and firmware upgrade mechanisms.
  • Debugging skills for complex systems involving MCU firmware and Linux applications.

Nice-to-have skills

  • Medical Device Development experience.
  • Medical domain knowledge.
  • Understanding of embedded Linux security and containerization (Docker).
  • Exposure to medical standards (e.g., IEC 62304).
