About the role
This position is a two-year residency. This role is designed for a technical expert who thrives at the intersection of systems architecture and legal policy. The time will be split between building the future of Law School internal operations and shaping the global conversation on the responsible use of AI through high-impact public conferences, events, and management of a new student competition.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary architect for a new, high-profile interschool student competition related to a cross-disciplinary simulation competition on Law, Technology, and Governance.
- Organizes “Law & Tech” symposia that bring together Fordham’s academic faculty and the New York tech community.
- Acts as a resident advisor for faculty and staff on how to safely integrate AI tools into their classes and workflows.
- Builds and deploys bespoke internal applications to streamline financial tracking, student services, or faculty workflows.
- Audits fragmented data silos across law school departments and creates unified dashboards for the Associate Dean to monitor school health and efficiency.
- Identifies manual “paper-heavy” processes and engineers digital-first replacements that respect the privacy and security requirements of a legal institution.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of professional software development or data engineering experience.
- Knowledge and Skills: Proficiency in at least one programming language, SQL, and modern web frameworks. Demonstrated project management ability to take a project from “vague administrative pain point” to “deployed software solution.”
Preferred Qualifications
- A Juris Doctor degree or background in legal theory. Familiarity with LLM orchestration is highly preferred.
