About the role
Holds general responsibility for projects associated with facilities or production equipment throughout the manufacturing facility. Performs tooling design, maintains the engineering drawing system, and tracks production equipment performance to implement efficiency and uptime improvements. Supports construction activities for various capital improvement projects as required.
Responsibilities
- Equipment installation, electrical or mechanical work, equipment optimization, equipment spare parts setup and warehousing, and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Support and guidance of capital & expense projects from financial justification to start-up and through to completion of Validation.
- Monitor the work of outside contractors performing facility modifications, installing, repairing, or investigating equipment within the facility.
- Maintain the Engineering document management system, including drawing control, creation and updates to drawings, operation and maintenance manuals (paper or electronic).
- Lead incident investigations related to equipment malfunctions.
- Write specifications, estimate costs, and schedule projects.
- Participate in cross-functional project teams and provide project communication and documentation.
- Interpret detailed engineering drawings, specifications, logic diagrams, schematics, and verbal/written instructions for compliance with cGMPs.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for facility and manufacturing equipment (local, state, federal, and international agencies).
- Participate in and/or lead airflow visualization studies in aseptic processing areas for ad hoc or re-qualification studies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree desired. Five years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 5 years of experience, including machine design and/or drafting, required (with no degree).
- Pharmaceutical and FDA-regulated industry experience desired.
- Maintenance or construction experience is desired.
- Practical knowledge in a technical field such as Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Controls, or Manufacturing Technology.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, logic diagrams, and schematics.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for facility and manufacturing equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- ADDA Certified Drafter
- Autodesk Certified User or Professional
- Revit Architecture Certified User
- SolidWorks Certified Associate
Working Environment
- Ability to lift 40 pounds unassisted.
- Periods of prolonged standing, sitting, and moving through the facility and aseptic areas.
- Exposure to allergens.
- Work in confined spaces.
- Must be able to obtain aseptic gowning certification.
Pay
Hiring wage: $28.81/hr - $38.96/hr, with opportunities for growth, promotion, and annual raises.
