About the role

We are currently hiring for a Tech Assistant at our Akumin Wichita facility. This position supports therapists in delivering high standards of patient care and ensures smooth operations within the Radiation Therapy department.

Responsibilities

  • Support therapists in safe patient handling and mobility (SPHM) activities, including transfers, lifting, turning, and ambulation.
  • Coordinate patient flow to and from the changing rooms and in and out of the Radiation Therapy department.
  • Manage clinical inventory, perform regular checks, and coordinate supply orders to ensure continuous service availability.
  • Perform daily maintenance of blanket and contrast warmer, refrigerator temperature checks, and transport equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers, oxygen tanks, etc.).
  • Demonstrate courteous, respectful communication with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Use aseptic technique and maintain knowledge of Universal Precaution and radiation safety protocols.
  • Perform other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • BLS certification.
  • Excellent people skills, adaptability, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to interact with Radiation Oncologists, referring physicians, and center personnel while maintaining credibility in a demanding environment.
  • Familiarity with current software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, HIS/RIS, and PACS.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate Degree.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • One-year experience in the medical field.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM.
