Technician Trainee

About the role
The Technician Trainee position is an entry-level role for a highly motivated, hard-working individual with the desire to learn the Technician trade. This role performs light Technician and preventative maintenance work under close supervision of experienced Technicians and participates in a structured training program to expand skills on a variety of equipment, including onboard diagnostics. This position prepares individuals for a Technician or Road Technician career track.
Responsibilities
- Observe, learn, and assist with Technicians overseeing major repairs of all types of equipment
- Provide support to other Technicians with maintenance or equipment repairs
- Assist Technicians in conducting preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary repairs and downtime in the field
- Perform maintenance work (e.g., preventive maintenance, pre-delivery inspections, light repairs) under supervision
- Fabricate and replace parts as required to meet manufacturers' specifications under supervision
- Perform safety inspections on equipment
- Attend all training and manufacturing training as directed
- Meet all company, governmental, and equipment-related safety requirements
- Attend and participate in all Profit Center Meetings
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and properly handle company tools
- Maintain an acceptably clean, neat, and professional appearance at all times while wearing company uniforms
Requirements
- Willingness to learn and ability to comprehend complex equipment repairs
- 0 to 1 years’ experience with similar equipment strongly preferred
- Ability to safely use personal tools
- Ability to effectively and safely use tools and equipment
- Ability to communicate equipment issues and understand job assignments
- Personal and professional integrity
- Proficient to advanced computer skills, including entering work orders, diagnosing issues, using the Wynne system, and learning analyzers
- Clear understanding of the necessity of equipment safety
- Flexibility regarding work assignments
- Physically able to work in a job-site or diesel shop environment for extensive periods, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, squatting, crouching, and reaching
- Diesel or Heavy Equipment Technical Associate Degree strongly preferred

Pay
Base pay range: $17.75 - $21.57 per hour. Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
