Technician, Pipeline (I & E focus) (Vernal, UT)

About the role

The Pipeline Technician at Enterprise Products Partners L.P. is responsible for maintaining and operating natural gas and liquid transmission pipelines and their associated equipment. This includes performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment, as well as participating in safety meetings and training programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform or assist with routine maintenance of pumps and electric motors such as bearing and seal replacements, alignments, couplings, sumps, fans, drain piping modifications, etc.
• Maintenance on other mechanical equipment such as block valves, control valves, air compressors, valve actuators, etc.
• Aid with replacement of pumps, motors, valves, and other equipment as needed.
• Maintain and operate custody transfer measurement facilities and perform product quality control tests.
• Participate and successfully complete training programs, process safety management reviews, and safety meetings required to comply with state and federal regulations.
• Review procedures as necessary to ensure compliance of all company and industry standards to meet all regulatory agency requirements.
• Perform remedial and preventative maintenance and maintain facility appearance and safety through good housekeeping practices inside and outside of the facilities.
• Utilize precision tools and test equipment as needed.
• Respond to operational emergencies as a member of an area emergency response team.
• Perform regulatory required inspections.
• Monitor NGL receipt and delivery activities to appropriate pipelines.
• Locate pipelines as needed and oversee excavations and line crossings.
• Launch and receive cleaning pigs and assist with the launch and receiving of smart pigs.
• Install pipeline markers and do routine inspections on ROW.
• Maintain and operate corrosion control equipment.
• Interface with various landowners including private, state, federal, etc.

Requirements

• A minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
• A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is required.
• A minimum of 2 years' experience in the operation, maintenance, and/or construction of a hazardous liquid or gas pipeline facility, or a similar facility/system is preferred.
• Knowledge of the general design and operation of a liquid or gas pipeline is required.
• Experience and knowledge of industry-related maintenance and repair standards are preferred.
• Knowledge of turbine engines, centrifugal pumps, regulators, motor operated valves, electronic controls and medium electrical voltage with an understanding of NGL or gas pipelines is preferred.
• Basic computer skills such as opening, creating and updating content in MS Word documents and Excel spreadsheets is required.
• The ability to read maps, prints, drawings, and technical manuals is required.
• The ability to read P&ID and electrical diagrams and other complex electrical drawings is required.
• Interpret plant electrical diagrams is required.
• Update electrical drawings is required.
• Install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain end devices, alarms, shutdown systems, process controls, substation and branch feeders, variable frequency drives, air/fuel controllers, panel boards, HMI, PLC’s etc. is required.
• Perform preventative and general maintenance on electronic and pneumatic equipment and parts associated with this equipment is required.
• Perform remedial and preventative maintenance and maintain facility appearance and safety through good housekeeping practices inside and outside of the facilities is required.
• Perform preventative and general maintenance on electronic and pneumatic equipment and parts associated with this equipment is required.
• Maintain and operate custody transfer measurement facilities and perform product quality control tests is required.
• Performing or assisting with routine maintenance of NGL and Refined Products pumps, electric motors, Turbines, valves, and electrical trouble shooting of refined products and NGL pipeline and terminal, coordinate system shutdowns, (new connects, leak repair), line pressure maintenance (pigging, balling), lock out/tag out, hydrate, mitigation, excavation activities, and dew point monitoring and various other duties as assigned is required.
• Coordinate construction tie-ins and be responsible for lockout/tagout, purging and packing pipelines is required.
• Gather accurate data and complete daily reports is required.
• Maintain pipeline right-of-ways and all associated operational tasks is required.
• Operate, inspect, and maintain high pressure pipelines, valves, regulators, and related instrumentation in compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations is required.
• Manage storage and transfer of pipeline liquids; monitor and inspect pipeline encroachment is required.
• Act as a company representative and interact with property owners, other pipeline company representatives, and local public representatives is required.
• Works in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment is required.
• Ability to assume responsibility, be flexible, perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions is required.

• Must have ability to get in and out of vehicles regularly and ride over rough roads is required.
• Must wear special safety equipment while working and must be able to lift and put on emergency breathing apparatus and/or protective equipment is required.
• The ability to take callouts and work overtime is required is required.
• Must live or relocate to within one hour of reporting location is required.
