Technician in the Production department, reporting as per the location organizational chart.
About the role
The purpose of this position is to learn facility tasks and carry out the daily plan to maintain efficient operation of the plant. This role supports the Mission and Motto, as well as the Food Safety and Quality Statement of the Mennel Milling Company.
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts, Monday–Friday, which may include weekends and holidays
- Day shift: 5:00 am – 5:00 pm
- Night shift: 5:00 pm – 5:00 am
- Overtime as required
Responsibilities
- Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in accordance with GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, and company sanitation guidelines
- Attend all required training sessions
- Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit-ready condition
- Operate machinery on a production line, including high-speed packaging equipment
- Perform required checks, including visual, product size, and weight checks
- Immediately communicate any deviation from standards to the Team Leader
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Participate in Continuous Improvement activities and attend off-shift meetings as required
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift 50–65 pounds frequently, climb stairs and ladders
- Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
Skills
- Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, procedures, and plans
- Write, complete checklists, and other basic documentation
- Effectively present information or data in one-on-one and small group situations
- Perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Use solid judgment when making decisions
- Quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands for maintenance tasks, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment with moving equipment and machinery
- Exposure to dusty, hot/humid, and cold conditions; must be willing to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and in the presence of airborne particles
- Noise level typically requires hearing protection
- Exposure to common wheat allergens
