Essential Duties
- Conduct appropriate NDE tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDE methods of inspection.
- Establish and follow techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
- Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
- Interpret test results and visual indicators.
- Organize and report test results.
- Set up and calibrate NDE equipment.
- Perform specialized inspections.
- Perform other job-related tasks.
Education And Required Experience
- A High School graduate or equivalent.
- Technical school or NDE courses taken are a plus.
- 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing facility using applicable NDE applications and methods.
- Knowledge of ASTM NDE and ISO standards.
- Proven written communication skills.
- Ability to properly perform calibrations.
- Analytical skills with good judgment to interpret and evaluate results.
Certifications
- Technical certifications in ASNT NDT Level III.
- Liquid Penetrant “PT”.
- Magnetic Particle Testing “MT”.
- Eddy Current “ET” or Ultrasonic “UT” (preferred).
Physical Requirements
- The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, and Ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- The employee frequently is required to talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, and risk of shock.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold and wet, humid conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
