Technician- Maintenance I USA (B Crew/PM Shift)

Basic Job Functions

Performs, as directed, all necessary maintenance of the facility, equipment and grounds, in a timely and cost efficient manner.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred
• Military experience
• Vocational High School graduate with no experience required
• Must meet one of the following:
• 6 months First Solar manufacturing experience
• 6 months of outside manufacturing, mechanical, or agricultural experience
• Passes community college entrance exam and completes manufacturing maintenance training program.

Required Skills/Competencies

• Verifiable technical skills and/or background
• Ability to work with little supervision
• Demonstrated troubleshooting skill
• Knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Proven communications skills
• Ability to follow safe work practices
• Knowledge of manufacturing equipment preferred
• Proven Electro/Mechanical skills preferred
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, vacuum systems and robotics preferred

Essential Responsibilities

• Accomplishes daily assignments as scheduled and as directed
• Performs the on-site service and repair of equipment
• Must meet at least 70% of Estimated Repair Times
• Interfaces with other departments
• Follows standard OSHA, EPA and company safe practices on all work assignments
• Ability to read electrical & mechanical drawings and technical manuals
• Performs other assignments as required
• Responsible to manage waste generated from any work that is performed as instructed
• Completes First Solar Maintenance Technician 1 training program

Travel

If hiring to a new plant prior to plant start, associate will be required to spend extended time (60-80%) in another plant in either Ohio or Alabama for training until their assigned plan starts equipment installation.

Physical Requirements

• Sit, stand or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day
• Climb stairs on an occasional basis
• Lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction
• Lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis
• Push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis
• Push or pull up to 10 pounds of force on a frequent basis
• Use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis
• 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow and green is required
• Reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
• Straighten, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
• Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, cut resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses, hearing protection)
• All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).

Estimated Salary Range

$18.89- $26.44 Hourly US
