Technician - Maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, install, maintain, and repair defective parts, machinery, and mechanical equipment including paper bag machines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, physical structures, plumbing, hydraulic and automated systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities such as lubricating, aligning components, and observing operations, vibrations, and noise levels
  • Set up and operate lathe, drill press, mill, welder, grinder, and other metal working tools to make and repair parts
  • Work safely by observing safety rules, policies, and procedures; identify unsafe conditions or actions
  • Respond to work orders submitted by employees
  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Assist supervisor in ordering parts
  • Plan and obtain cost estimates and execute projects under the guidance of the maintenance supervisor
  • Provide training in areas of expertise or knowledge
  • Support facility improvements
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, cleaning up after tasks are complete
  • Participate and execute actions from the quality improvement program
  • Maintain compliance with company quality systems and support audits
  • Perform emergency/breakdown repair as needed

Skills

  • Experience/knowledge in mechanical troubleshooting, welding, metal fabrication, plumbing, pneumatics, confined space, and mobile equipment
  • Ability to problem-solve and prioritize work
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to accurately use and read a variety of measuring devices
  • Ability to bend, squat, and kneel, and climb frequently
  • Ability to lift average weighted materials (50 lbs. up to 70 lbs. occasionally)
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours
  • Ability to work varied hours/days
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read manuals and diagrams
  • Mechanical Journeyman or Technical/Vocation Certificate preferred but not required
