About the Role

LyondellBasell's Channelview site is looking for an experienced Maintenance Electrician to provide technical expertise in the installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of 5KV and low voltage Motor Control Center equipment. This role also provides project coordination for new systems installation and engineering support, including conduit installation and repair.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for personal safety, co-worker safety, and promoting a safe work environment; carry out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations
  • Promote an environment where everyone is treated with respect
  • Execute scheduled work by: reviewing assigned job scopes for completeness and understanding; acquiring all necessary parts, tools, and instructions prior to starting; following all safety procedures to isolate, clear, and work on plant equipment; ensuring work is completed per company and industry standards; working with equipment owners to complete tasks safely and timely; updating supervisors on job progress and problems; completing all documentation using a computerized maintenance management system
  • Respond to tasks as directed by maintenance supervision with appropriate urgency to minimize impact to process units
  • Identify and implement reliability driven improvements, including participation in site reliability teams
  • Participate on committees dealing with investigations, policy and procedure development, and improving the workplace environment
  • Mentor other electrical maintenance technicians as needed
  • Engage in frequent developmental dialog with supervisors and others to enhance personal and group performance
  • Attend additional formal training as needed

Requirements & Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED and equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of maintenance experience on electrical systems/equipment in petrochemical processing/refinery or similar environment preferred, OR successful completion of a 4-year formal apprenticeship program with accompanying OJT
  • Experience must include installation, checkout, commissioning, calibration, system and component troubleshooting, and repair
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical testing and maintenance of plant electrical systems and motor control equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with diverse cross-functional groups
  • Commitment to the IEA craft with willingness to learn, accept new challenges, and work in a team environment
  • Ability to operate various types of equipment including hand, power, and machine tools
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment drawings, loop drawings, control schematics, and maintain/redline documentation
  • Ability to complete tasks wearing required personal protective equipment (fire protective clothing, goggles, face shields, gloves, steel toe boots, hearing protection, respirators, etc.)
  • Ability to climb towers, ride a bicycle, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with peers and internal/external clients
  • Ability to work extended hours and provide overtime coverage
