Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, general machine upkeep, and light repairs on customer-owned machines.
- Detect faults using diagnostic laptop computers, gauges, and instruments in machine systems: electronics, hydraulics, power train, engines, and general machine performance.
- Operate equipment occasionally to determine repair needs or assess repairs.
- Load or unload equipment or components from customer-owned or common carrier vehicles.
- Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules.
- Perform any additional assigned duties.
Requirements
- High school education or GED equivalent is required; technical, vocational, or trade school education in diesel technology is preferred.
- Two to five years of experience in preventative maintenance services and light mechanical repairs on construction equipment (Caterpillar experience preferred).
- Experience diagnosing equipment using laptop computers, gauges, and instruments in electronics, hydraulics, power train, engines, and general machine performance.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair engine, hydraulic, electrical systems, brakes, clutches, etc.
- Proficiency in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking while maintaining organization.
- Strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and excellent communication (oral and written).
- Above-average math, science, and English skills; ability to read and interpret machine schematics.
- Self-motivation and a desire to perform at the highest level.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office.
- MSHA certified or ability to obtain certification.
- Must have or be able to obtain a CDL as required.
Special Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Long periods of standing, exposure to seasonal heat and cold, and working with oils and greases.
- Exposure to noise, shift work (1st and 2nd shifts), outdoor work, stooping, bending, squatting, or working in a prone position.
