Technician III - Autoclaves - 2nd Shift
About the Role
At the BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) location in Westminster, CO, we develop and manufacture state-of-the-art tactical technologies including low-profile antennas, electronic warfare platforms, electro-optical laser imaging, and phased arrays. Technological developments are driving rapid expansion of our manufacturing capabilities to support customer demands. This hands-on, technically challenging role allows you to contribute to impactful projects with exciting missions while working alongside highly skilled planners, engineers, and technicians. The position provides cross-functional support across the Manufacturing Process Centers in Westminster, with a primary assignment in the Autoclave work center on second shift. Cross-training and flexibility to work in other work centers are core responsibilities.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution—from strategic capital investments and industrial operations to state-of-the-art manufacturing, test operations, and facilities management.
Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with industry, environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints to determine bonding requirements.
- Perform standard autoclave processes, including preparing and bagging assemblies, operating vessels, and unbagging assemblies.
- Apply professionally accepted manufacturing engineering techniques, practices, and procedures.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective and efficient processes.
- Utilize innovative and creative problem-solving skills as well as efficient and timely communication.
- Assist in the maintenance, preventative maintenance, and operation of lab equipment.
- Initiate emergency procedures in case of power failure; recognize safety hazards, including hazardous materials, and pursue corrective action when necessary.
- Apply basic computer skills to input and access data via computer interface.
- Support other Manufacturing Shops and Service Centers, including but not limited to: Paint Shop, Printed Circuit Work Center, and Adhesive Cutting Lab.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company.
- Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Work Environment
This is an on-site position requiring regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week at the primary work location in Westminster, CO. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years or more of related experience. Each higher-level related degree (e.g., Bachelor’s or Master’s) may substitute for two years of experience. Degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or U.S. Department of Education.
- A DoD Interim Secret clearance will be required to start work and must be maintained to continue employment. Applicants must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $57,319 – $91,710. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors, including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
