Technician III
About the role
The Division of Nutritional Sciences (DNS) at Cornell University is seeking a full-time Research Technician to support laboratory activities in molecular and clinical nutrition research.
Responsibilities
- Clinical samples collection, processing, and storage
- Laboratory management, routine monitoring and calibration of lab equipment, and enforcement of lab safety protocols
- Performing laboratory techniques such as ELISA, RNA isolation, PCR, Western blotting, cell culture, flow cytometry, and microscopy
- Aiding in the laboratory training of undergraduate and graduate students
- Analyzing research data using specific software and maintaining laboratory records
- Maintaining laboratory records and databases, including organizing samples in an electronically maintained biorepository
- Participating in lab meetings, research-related discussions, and other activities
- Participating in projects with occasional work responsibility falling above or below current classification
Requirements
Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting belonging.
Bachelor of Science and up to 2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination in biomolecular sciences.
Previous experience working in a biomolecular research laboratory setting.
Previous experience with basic biomolecular techniques such as ELISA, RNA isolation, PCR, Western blotting, cell culture, flow cytometry, and microscopy.
Proficiency in common computer applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Detail-oriented and thorough in completing and communicating the results of work tasks.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently or as part of a team.

Previous experience working in a clinical research environment, including biorepository management.

Benefits
Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis. This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal, contingent on available funding, work, and successful performance.
Pay
$24.31 - $26.87 per hour
