Job Summary

The Technician II - Outside Plant (OSP) must possess the ability to perform the technical responsibilities of an Technician II - Outside Plant and function as a lead member of an OSP team. The Technician II - OSP will coordinate small groups of technicians in the performance of daily workload including adherence to Company safety and quality standards.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Pull cables of various sizes through underground duct bank systems.
  • Absorb crew members in placing underground pipes, manual labor and shovel work.
  • Absorb in all manual labor aspects of the project as directed by the Lead, or Supervisor.
  • Guide daily inspections and all confined space equipment.
  • Absorb radios and air monitors for projects.
  • Absorb in the training of new employees.
  • Keep the worksite clean and organized free from unnecessary hazards.
  • Complete all IES paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required).
  • Adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Physical And Mental Requirements

  • Withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching; crouching, crawling and shoveling.
  • Work in an outdoor (heat, rain, snow, etc) or indoor construction work environment.
  • Be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).
  • Promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
  • Possess proven problem solving and critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
  • Possess and be proficient with the listed tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to meet Company minimum driving standards preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must possess the ability to operate a variable reach forklift, skid loader and other specialty OSP equipment.
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years’ of OSP experience or underground utility work in telecommunications.
  • Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
  • Possess and be proficient with the listed tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to meet Company minimum driving standards preferred.

Tools

  • Screwdriver (regular and Phillips), torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight and gloves.
  • Muck boots/water boots.

Pay

Min USD $20.00/Hr. Max USD $24.00/Hr.
