About the role
The Technician II - Data Center Services will support both the Physical and Virtual Infrastructure of the organization and its facilities. The role drives data center best practices and industry standards into working processes and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Directly support and complete all scheduled data center MACs (Moves/Adds/Changes)
- Hardware installation MACs, including device labeling, power connectivity, and network cable connectivity
- Complete hardware support work orders involving hardware and cabling MACs, certification, troubleshooting, and break-fix
- Asset management, auditing, and daily work log/ticket tracking
- Provide smart-hands assistance for multiple customers at various sites within specified SLA response times (on-call duties may apply)
- Maintain a safe and secure operating environment within the data center and report violations to a supervisor
- Detailed and thorough documentation and record keeping
- Maintain site security protocols, badging requirements, and data protection procedures
- Ensure all media storage devices (hard drives, thumb drives, CD/DVDs, etc.) are properly logged, secured, and documented for compliance
- Coordinate equipment/material receiving, shipping, and RMA processing support
- Provide vendor and security escorts as needed
- Perform general cleaning of raised floor, cabinet/rack exteriors, work benches, and other areas regularly
- Support standard and emergency operating procedures for the data center
- Provide status reporting on data center service availability, performance, and capacity utilization
- Daily error log reporting and physical data center inspections for general health, power, cooling, and hazards
- Coordinate equipment installation and delivery schedules in accordance with project plans
- On-call duties as needed
Requirements
- 3+ years working in data centers, operations, or a related technical field
- General knowledge of server/network equipment and software support configurations
- Intermediate understanding of AC/DC power principles, data center power distribution, and best practices
- Strong aptitude for an independent working environment and high productivity
- Ability to act as a company liaison interfacing with customer representatives
- Proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentations
- Ability to work at heights, off ladders, and in confined spaces
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to see and distinguish colors, read small print, and hear/recognize audible signals (e.g., dial tones)
- Excellent communication and customer relationship skills
- Regular attendance is mandatory
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalency
- Three (3) years minimum of data center experience
- At least two (2) active industry certifications
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Must meet company minimum driving standards
Skills
- Strong working knowledge of server and network hardware/components
- Copper and fiber infrastructure installation and testing
- Data center productivity and support tools, applications, and software (Windows, Linux, SSH, RDP, Putty, etc.)
- Data center infrastructure management (DCIM) related tools

Pay
Minimum USD $33.00/Hr. Maximum USD $37.00/Hr.
