Responsibilities
Scope:
- Perform other related duties as assigned to maintain workflow.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition in accordance with 5S standards.
- Perform all duties within the limitation of standard methods and procedures, and in strict adherence to HSE, quality, and productivity requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Perform required testing on all material for welded tube and confirm results meet all required specifications and tolerances.
- Perform test functions in a suitable time frame to support production.
- Record production test results in a computer database system and create tags and labels.
- Follow proper Material Review Technique (MRT) procedure for any material out of specifications.
- Perform disposition of MRT materials with direction from the quality engineer and central quality lab.
- Prepare samples for test measurements, including cutting samples using a saw, marking samples, and performing metallographic techniques such as mounting, polishing, and grinding.
- Perform a wide variety of product measurement techniques for welded tube, including:
- Keyence vision measurement for compliance with dimensional and weld tube specifications using optical microscopes (IM, VHX, VR).
- Cleanliness testing.
- Tensile testing for mechanical properties.
- Perform and maintain records of daily calibration tests on all testing equipment in the lab as required.
- Conduct gauge repeatability studies and capability studies as needed.
- Support the Quality Engineer in collecting measurement data for PPAP approvals and annual dimensional layout.
- Audit product characteristics and production processes to ensure compliance with required product specifications and quality procedures.
- Make recommendations to quality improvement teams regarding processing modifications to enhance product quality.
- Write work instructions and procedures to suit quality program requirements.
- Train employees in precision measurement techniques.
- Work independently or within teams to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain knowledge of new developments, requirements, and policies.
- Take breaks outside of production downtime.
- Acquire and apply knowledge of Hydro’s safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Requirements
- Excellent knowledge of HAR quality standards.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Excellent mathematics skills, especially algebra, geometry, basic statistics, and SPC.
- Basic understanding of metallurgy.
- Ability to read blueprints, geometric tolerancing, and dimensioning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Knowledge of process-related standards.
- Proven ability to develop successful partnerships with internal and external team members.
